The 2010 Cribb Island Board Riders Club Champions have been announced, with a mix of old stagers, young stars and consistent performers taking the prestigious trophies.
More than 50 Cribbies and families packed the picturesque Hendra Nundah Bowls Club for a great afternoon for music, bowls and tall tales.

Club President Rob Mactaggart led the way with some searing guitar up front of the club’s own band, the Manilows, ably backed by the more sedate Dead Beat Daddios.

In between, Rob announced the winners of the Club’s first Championships:
In the Open division, a clear winner was Dale Fielder, whose regular Bali surf trips and duels with razor sharp coral reefs paid off in the challenging Twin Waters slop.

In the Masters, the judges could barely separate a tight field, with John “Ziggy” Zigliotto taking the points after some serious psychological warfare saw him prevail in a comp that was fought as much in the car park as it was in the water.

Not to be daunted, Rick Bird came out on top in the much-maligned Longboard division, crediting his success to his new mental approach to surfing.

And in the Juniors, two outstanding surfers went toe-to-toe all year, and nothing could spearate them at season’s end. Congratulations to Fergus Mactaggart and Angus Hill.
